Contract Notes

Jason Pierre-Paul was traded to the Buccaneers on March 22, 2018. The Bucs assume the remaining three years of Pierre-Paul's contract. His salary in 2018 is fully guaranteed and he has a $7.5 million injury guarantee in 2019. The injury guarantee vests to full on the 5th day of the 2019 league year. The Giants keep the $15 million in unaccounted for prorated bonus money on their salary cap.

Jason Pierre-Paul signed a four year, $62 million contract with the Giants on March 18, 2017. The salary cap numbers presented below are estimates based on various reports that have been put online about the contract. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, JPP received a $20 million signing bonus and will earn $34 million in the first 11 months of signing the contract. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, JPP will earn $22.5M in the first year of the contract, $35 million in two years, and $49.5 over the first three years of the contract. According to Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News, Pierre-Pauls contract contains $1 million in per game roster bonuses in 2017 which we are estimating are in each year of the contract.

The Buccaneers renegotiated the contract with Pierre-Paul to eliminate the 2020 league year while reducing his base compensation in 2019 from $14.275 million to $5.25 million.
