Contract Notes
Terron Armstead signed a five year, $65 million extension with the Saints on May 4, 2016. Armstead received $38 million in guarantees of which $20.88 million is fully guaranteed upon signing. The guarantee consists of an $11 million signing bonus, his 2016 and 2017 P5s, and $5 million roster bonus due in 2017. If Armstead is on the roster on the 2nd day of the 2017 League Year, $6.2 million of his 2018 salary becomes fully guaranteed with the balance vesting on the 3rd day of the 2018 legue year. If Armstead is on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2019 League Year another $6.92 million becomes fully guaranteed. From 2019 to 2021 Armstead can earn roster bonuses for being on the roster on the 3rd day of each respective season and also has annual $500,000 per game roster bonuses.According to ESPN's Field Yates, Armstead converted a $5 million roster bonus for 2017 into a signing bonus. The move creates $4 million in cap space for the Saints in 2017 but adds on $1 million in cap charges to each of the remaining years of the contract.Armstead converted $4 million of his 2018 salary into a signing bonus.
