2018 AFC South Offseason Overview By Team

I will be posting a handy reference guide that brings together all of the relevant information here on Over The Cap for each division in the NFL as free agency begins next week. You’ll be able to see the cap room your favorite team has, an overview of some team needs, the draft picks they’re projected to have, and what those draft picks are projected to cost.

*Salaries and Draft Picks are updated up to March 11.*

2018 Houston Texans

2018 Team Cap = $187,149,209

Total Cap = $132,320,142

Current Cap Top 51 = $124,298,577

Dead Money = $1,703,233

Draft Picks:

8 draft picks: 3/68, 3/80, 3/98, 4/103, 6/177, 6/211, 6/214, 7/222

Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com Team Needs:

  • OL, S, CB
  • The Texans traded away their first- and second-round picks to Cleveland last year so finding an early impact offensive lineman will be tough. They might need to turn to free agency for that. The Texans’ secondary has been a disappointment and will require additional talent.”

7 draft picks: 1/3, 2/36, 3/67, 4/104, 5/140, 6/178, 7/221

Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com Team Needs:

  • ILB, OL, Edge
  • The Colts simply don’t have the talent they need at inside linebacker. The offensive line could use a talent upgrade, as well. Chris Ballard won’t stop looking for a terror off the edge.”
    • They need to protect Luck better than they have in the past. They need to improve against the pass and the run on defense. They need a stout inside linebacker to help produce run defense.

Team’s Free Agents:

2018 Team Cap = $204,968,739

Total Cap Liabilities = $179,143,129

Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com Team Needs:

  • TE, OG, WR
  • The improved play of Blake Bortles has pulled QB off this list for now, but finding a quality pass-catcher at tight end is still a high priority. Leonard Fournette will be a lot better if the Jags can improve their guard play. If Marqise Lee walks in free agency, the Jags will need to add depth at WR.”

Team’s Free Agents:

6 draft picks: 1/25, 2/57, 3/89, 4/125, 5/162, 6/199

Draft Picks:

Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com Team Needs:

  • Edge, OG, TE
  • Finding a consistent edge presence could go a long way in helping the Titans’ defense reach that next level. There is room for improvement and depth at guard. Finding another combination TE to eventually take over for Delanie Walker should be on their radar.”
