Contract Notes

Matt Ryan signed a 5 year, $150 million contract extension on May 4, 2018. Details of the contract come from a report on PFT.  Ryan hass $94.5 million fully guaranteed at signing. The guarantee is made up of Ryan's 2018, 2019, and 2020 base salaries plus his $46.5 million signing bonus and a $10 million option bonus. $5.5 million of his 2021 salary is guaranteed for injury and become fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2019 league year. Ryan will earn $7.5 million roster bonuses in 2022 and 2023 provided he is on the roster on the 3rd day of the respective league year. The extension lowers Ryan's 2018 cap charge by $3.95 million.Ryan restructured his contract at the end of the 2019 season to convert $12 million of 2020 salary into a bonus. The move creates $9.375 million in 2020 cap space while increasing Ryan's cap charges by $3.125 million in the final three years of the contract.
