Raiders Restructure Maxx Crosby’s Contract

The Raiders have done a minor restructure of Maxx Crosby’s contract, opening up $7.5375 million in salary cap space per ESPN’s Field Yates. To reach that number the Raiders would have only converted Crosby’s $10.05 million roster bonus. The roster bonus was already guaranteed and would be earned in just a few days.

This is simply a proactive restructure by the Raiders. They already had plenty of cap room for this year and did not touch any of Crosby’s $7.5 million salary for the year. This is just getting ahead of things for the team as they would have lost the ability to convert the roster bonus to a prorated bonus in about a week. If they need more cap room they can always restructure the base of Crosby’s deal at a later date.

The move increases Crosby’s cap hit in the remaining years of the contract by $2.5 million. The Raiders currently have $43.7 million in cap space, 3rd most in the NFL.
