Link: National Football Post- Headed for the chopping block

Joel Correy of the National Football Post has an excellent article looking ahead to 2013 and some of the top potential cap casualties around the NFL. Correy lists some big name players including Mike Vick and Chris Johnson among others. Here is his take on Bart Scott of the New York Jets:

Bart Scott (ILB)-New York Jets: Once a main cog in New York’s defense, Scott saw his role diminish in 2011 when he was no longer an every-down linebacker. The 32-year-old was on the trading block during the offseason, but wasn’t in high demand. With 2012 third-round pick Demario Davis emerging, the Jets could feel secure in letting Scott, who has an $8.65 million 2013 cap number, go after the season. The move would give the Jets $7.15 million in cap room.

While I disagree that these players will all be cap cuts, Scott for instance is going to be cut for being ineffective as much as his high cap charge, its an excellent job by Correy of outlining the decision making that goes into the future of a player with a franchise.
