2015 NFL Stock Up Week 2

Every week during the season I’ll take a look back at the games and select three players who are entering important stages of their contract that may have helped their stock in upcoming negotiations with their play on gameday. In addition we will also look at one player signed in the offseason to a new contract that exceeded all expectations and provided exceptional value to his team. So let’s see who made the cut in week 2…

Stock Up

Michael Crabtree– Crabtree took a risky one year contract with the Raiders and it paid off this week. Crabtree put up 111 yards and a touchdown, which are the kind of numbers that can get him back on track to earning that number 1 receiver type of contract he desperately wants.

Chandler Jones– Getting paid on defense is often related to making impact plays and that’s what Jones did by filling up his stat sheet with 3 sacks in a crazy game against the Bills. Jones is a terrific player with great athletic skills. He’s due an extension and could be one of the highest paid players at the position.

Travis Benjamin– Benjamin may not make many plays but when he does make a play it’s a big one. He was terrific for the Browns with a return TD and two big receiving touchdowns. Benjamin now has over 200 yards in two games and a few more good days and someone will be convinced to give a nice contract to play the role of developing receiver and punt returner.

New Contract Player Of The Week

Brandon Marshall– Marshall was unstoppable Monday night with 7 receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown that sealed the game. Marshall caused the Colts to be called for a number of costly penalties as well that kept drives alive. He looks like he can be a catalyst for the Jets offense this season.
