Titans to Cut Harold Landry

The Titans have decided to cut ties with EDGE rusher Harold Landry. There was an attempt made to trade Landry but I guess the interest was not strong enough to justify waiting so instead they will walk away from the 29 year old pass rusher. Landry had a $24.05 million cap number in 2025 and that will now drop to $13.1 million as dead money, a savings of $10.95 million in cap room. Landry’s salary for 2025 was $17.5 million.

Landry had re-signed with the Titans back in 2022, signing a five year, $87.5 million contract with the team in a year where the pass rusher market did not materialize the way many expected. Landry missed the first year of the contract with injury, but appeared in over 70% of the defensive snaps over the last two seasons while accounting for 19.5 sacks. He still had two years remaining on the contract.

The $17.5 million salary was likely too high for anyone to trade for, but you would guess that a $10-$13 million contract would be reasonable for someone who can get after the passer and has been healthy for the last two years. We will see over the coming days if that market exists for him but if it does it is a little surprising that Tennessee would not pick up some salary to make the contract more appealing via trade. For a rebuilding team like the Titans draft picks are usually more valuable that a few extra million in cap room.

We currently estimate the Titans to be 8th in the NFL with about $61 million in cap room for 2025.
