For the few people who have happened to find the website, I just wanted to give an update as to where we now stand. Yesterday I uploaded the 885th contract into the system, so we are moving along towards the goal of getting most of the players of importance into the system. Right now I am working on the basis of utilizing Pro Football Focus’ snap counts to determine who to get the contract estimates into the system.
Every position listed under the contracts tab has players who played at least 50% of the snaps last season for their team. My next goal is to get down to 25% playing time. Thus far the offense represents 25% playing time as does certain defensive positions (DE, OLB, and S). I’m hoping to have the rest updated within the next 2-3 weeks.
You will also see tabs now for the upcoming free agency period. This is the list that I have of free agents for each position with the players ranked by their last contract value.
Finally there is a 2013 team cap hits tab which collects the numerous players under contract for next season for each team in the NFL. Again this is only as complete as the database, but I think its a good start that most fans will find useful. My goal is to be able to track all 32 teams in the future but with about 1700 players in the NFL and multiple moving parts and expanded rosters between March and August I dont think it will be possible to have up to date cap info per team, at least in the early stages of the site.
Thanks for sticking with me as I work my way through this!
