Rookie Classes By APY

The table of players below is ranked to the maximum APY that each player signed in his career to date. Using this rank, each player is given an estimated round as to where he would have been suggested to be drafted. This is obviously not an exact overlap over the career performance of each player, even with considerable correlation.

A team's total value is calculated by summing up the differences between a player's estimated rank and actual rank within the number of draft picks that occured that season. Undrafted free agents have an actual rank of zero. This is an effort to see how much absolute talent a team was able to identify.

A team's relative value is calculated by summing up the differences between a player's estimated rank and actual rank among draft picks that it made, plus among undrafted free agents that ranked within the number of draft picks that season. This is an effort to see how productive a team was in using its draft capital.

Select a rookie class below. Seasons prior to 2011 and after 2020 are available to view by typing in the year in the URL, but caution should be exercised beforehand due to insufficent data, and afterward due to not every player having finished his rookie contract.
