Contract Notes

On March 11, 2019 Sean Lee signed a revised 1 year contract worth a base value of $3.5 million with $1 million in guarantees (via split salary).  Lee can earn up to $1.5 million through per game roster bonus pay.  Lee can earn an additional $3.5 million through incentives.  Under Lee's previous agreement he was due $7 million.

Sean Lee signed a six year $42 million contract extension with the Cowboys on August 22, 2013. The contract contains a $10 million signing bonus. Lee's 2013 and 2014 base salaries are fully guaranteed. The contract can max out at $51 million if Lee attains 80% playtime in each year of the contract. If he reaches the 80% mark the following years salary will escalate by either $1.5 million (2015 and 2019) or $2 million (2016-2018). Failing to complete workouts will cause his yearly salary to fall by $500,000.

On March 4, 2014 Lee converted $4.75 million of his $5.5 million base salary into a signing bonus.

On March 7, 2017 Lee converted an estimated $7.725 million of base salary into a signing bonus, providing the Cowboys with $5.15 million in cap relief.
