Contract Notes
Joe Burrow signed a five year, $275 million contract extension with the Bengals on September 9, 2023. Burrow received $219.01 million in guarantees of which $146.51 million is fully guaranteed at signing. The new guarantee on the contract is $111.46 million in full guarantees and $183.96 million in new injury protection. The full guarantee is made up of Burrow's 2023, 2024, and 2025 base salaries, a $40 million signing bonus in 2023, a $55 million option bonus in 2024, a $10 million option in 2025 and a $4.5 million roster bonus that was paid out as part of his prior contract. Burrow's 2026 and 2027 compensation are both guaranteed for injury. His 2026 salary is fully guaranteed on the 5th day of the 2025 league year while his 2027 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 5th day of the 2027 league year. If on the roster on the fifth day of the 2029 league year he will earn a $2.5 million bonus. There are three void years for salary cap purposes.
