Contract Notes

Cameron Heyward signed a four year contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 7th, 2020.  Contract extension is worth $65.6 million in new money with $20.25 million guaranteed at signing.  Heyward received a $17.5 million signing bonus at signing, and a $2.75 million roster bonus on September 11, 2020.  The roster bonus was treated as signing bonus since the contract was executed after (what would have been the last preseason game).  Heyward has roster bonuses in 2021 and 2022 on the 3rd of each respective league year.

In 2021 the Steelers converted Heyward's salary and roster bonus to a $9.4 million signing bonus. The conversion created $7.07 million in cap room for the Steelers in 2021. Heyward's cap number will increase by $2.356 million in each of the additional years of his contract.
