NFL Predictions 2014: Week 6

[adsenseyu1]

Not exactly a banner week last week for me going 10-4 without the points and just 7-7 with them. Still its better than a losing week I guess. Picked up a win a Thursday with the Colts so the season record is 53-24 and 46-29-2. Here are my thoughts on week 6…

Ravens (-3.5) over BUCCANEERS– While I have been on Tampa the last two weeks that won’t be the case this week. Ravens are a terrible matchup for this team and even in coming home I think there will be a major letdown after last weeks game for the Bucs. I don’t see this even being a game. Ravens 31 Buccaneers 13

BENGALS (-6.5) over Panthers– The Bengals should get back to their winning ways after getting shelled by the Patriots last Monday. Carolina won’t have nearly as easy a time against this defense as they did the Bears defense when they staged their comeback. Bengals 27 Panthers 17

Broncos (-8.5) over JETS– With all that is going on in New York it is hard for me to believe that the Jets can tune it all out and be competitive. The Broncos are not going to get cheered but neither will the Jets if they get off to a fast start, basically making the crowd one that hates both teams. Broncos 35 Jets 17

Packers (-3) over DOLPHINS– Green Bay looks as if they may have found their way again and will get an interesting matchup with the Dolphins who can definitely generate pressure on Aaron Rodgers. I don’t expect Green Bay to run away with this one, but expect them to win a hard fought game. Packers 30 Dolphins 24

BILLS (+3) over Patriots– The Patriots often torture this team but Buffalo is playing very strong defense and just seem to be in the midst of one of those years where everything breaks right for them. I think this will be a very close game with not a ton of scoring. I’ll take the Bills in an upset. Bills 19 Patriots 17

BROWNS (-1.5) over Steelers– Very close game. I do believe the Steelers have the far greater upside of the two teams, but Cleveland is finding ways to win and frankly has looked more impressive than Pittsburgh who has been sleepwalking through games. Pittsburgh held on for life in the last one and I think Browns return the favor this week. Browns 20 Steelers 17

Jaguars (+4) over TITANS– Probably the least appealing game of the season. If there is a team for the Jaguars to get a win against it is this one. Call it for the Jaguars. Jaguars 20 Titans 16

Lions (+2.5) over VIKINGS– While I do not like Detroit at all away from home I think their defense is playing well enough to stifle the Vikings completely. Low scoring game that the Lions win outright. Lions 16 Vikings 10

Chargers (-7.5) over RAIDERS– The Raiders new coach is Tony Sparano. Expect about 40 runs for 30 yards against the Chargers defense. Chargers 31 Raiders 7

Cowboys (+8) over SEAHAWKS– Measuring stick game for Dallas who has gotten on track against some middle of the road teams this year, but this is a real jump up in class. I’m excited to see Dez Bryant take on the Seattle secondary. No question Seattle is the more complete  team though. I don’t think Dallas will get rattled with the crowd and be able to keep it within a touchdown. Seahawks 30 Cowboys 24

FALCONS (-3.5) over Bears– Should be a fun matchup of two teams that play no defense whatsoever. Can’t see Atlanta losing this one. Their offense is incredible at home and Jay Cutler can not keep up in a track meet game. Bears season might be in jeopardy after this game. Falcons 40 Bears 27

CARDINALS (-3.5) over Redskins– I like Arizona this season and they were hanging in there against the Broncos until they lost their QB. Id expect better play from their QB this week and the defense should frustrate the Redskins all day. Cardinals 24 Redskins 16

Giants (+2.5) over EAGLES– The only way I see Philadelphia winning this game is if they continue to make game changing special teams plays. Giants are playing better football right now than the Eagles and the Eagles need their QB to become less focused on just Jeremy Maclin to improve their output. Eagles defense is too  prone to breakdowns that keep drives alive. Giants 34 Eagles 27

49ers (-3.5) over RAMS– I’m not sure if Austin Davis will be able to pull off the big rally against the 49ers defense that is playing quite well.  Just a different class of teams right now, especially with the 49ers back to their ground and pound ways. 49ers 27 Rams 16
