OTC 2015 Fanduel League: Week 1

We’ll be partnering up with FanDuel again this year and hosting an OTC league each week for readers of the site. If you have never tried FanDuel before they are, in my opinion, the top daily fantasy sports platform with loads of different game options ranging from head to head weekly games all the way to massive multi-player leagues.  The OTC league is a $5 entry league and this week can hold up to 20 players. The top 5 will all win prizes that range from $50 to $10.  Based on how many people sign up we will adjust the size of the league moving forward. If you have never signed up before with FanDuel you will receive a deposit bonus of up to $200 if you sign up using the links to the league or the promo code OTC100. The bonus will be matched in increments depending on how much you play. I’ll explain more about the league after the jump. Continue reading OTC 2015 Fanduel League: Week 1 »

Reality Sports Perfect 32 Contest

Right before the start of free agency I had introduced everyone to Reality Sports, the real in-depth fantasy football platform. I’m still working out if I will have the time to do a league, but I wanted to let everyone know about their Perfect 32 Draft Contest. There is no cost to enter and if you are lucky enough to actually pick all 32 first round picks in order you can win up to $50,000.  Its certainly not easy, but I figure for free it can’t hurt to a chance right? To sign up simply go to Reality Sports, register for free, then click on the Perfect 32 contest button.

For those who didn’t bother clicking the top link to learn more about RSO its a really innovative a year round fantasy platform that really helps simulate life as a NFL GM. Teams bid for players in real time in the RSO Free Agency room, and then decide what players to sign for multiple years. You then go through the NFL draft and watch the waiver wires in the summer just like any NFL team. The cost per team is just $9.99 and there is a 10% discount for OTC readers.

I’d imagine once the summer hits our readers maybe will have some added time to set up a league. Im sure Ill post this again, but if there is any interest (I know there were a few from February) why dont you leave a comment here or send me an email and I’ll try to get a list together of interested participants.

An Introduction to Reality Sports Online Fantasy Football

A few weeks ago Matt and Stephen from Reality Sports Online reached out to me about their very innovative Fantasy Football platform and I really thought it was impressive so I figured I would help get the word out about what they are offering.

RSO has created a year round fantasy platform that puts you in full control of a team as if you are a real general manager of an NFL team. The game itself starts with a the NFL auction room where you and the other teams in your league will bid on every player in the NFL.  Each team plays within the real constraints of the salary cap and you are limited to a number of multi year contracts such that the free agent pool continues to be filled year after year. You can try this out in their mock auction room to see how it operates, but essentially it condenses a real free agent period into 4 hours with your friends playing GM while their system plays the role of agent and identifies acceptable offers.

Later in the offseason you get to work your way to the NFL draft where the draft picks are slotted against the salary cap figures such that you have to find ways to blend them into your team structure. After that you deal with everything an NFL team does including injured players, waivers, and the need to cut players. And of course anyone you cut is going to have salary cap consequences down the line. You can customize many of your leagues settings in regards to rosters, contracts, and scoring or just join a public league that best fits your needs.

All in all this is probably the most hardcore dynasty football league you can participate in. It is certainly not for the faint of heart, but if you have a passion for the NFL and can commit the time this is as close as you can get right now to being a GM and then watching the results unfold in real time in regards to your roster and salary cap situation. RSO will be re-opening their leagues for action as soon as the salary cap is officially set.

The cost for each team is $9.99 and if you use promo code OTC10 you will get a 10% discount.

Im sure Ill post more about this during the offseason but if there is enough interest in doing an OTC league we can try that out .

OTC FanDuel Fantasy Football Week 17

[adsenseyu1]

I did not get the chance to run a league last week, but wanted to get one going for the final week of the season. Its just 11 spots with a $2 entry fee with the top 3 earning prizes. I’ll definitely run these next season as well so if anyone has any suggestions for pricing, league size, etc…just let me know.  It was fun to run the contests with you guys most weeks this year and I think we’ll get it bigger if I start earlier in the year rather than later. Enjoy the holidays and the last week of the NFL regular season.

I have our FanDuel league setup again for this week. Again its an 11 team league and as always its a $2 entry.  For those who haven’t played yet it’s a very friendly league and great to get a feel for the Fanduel daily sports system.

Last week we had a very close game. I came in first with 145.6 points behind Leveon Bell, Odell Beckham, and Mychal Rivera who made up for the no show from Drew Brees. That team just edged out phenomjones’ furious Monday night charge with Julio Jones and Jordy Nelson putting up monster points to bring his team to 141.6 points. Subzero2401 came in third place.

So if your own fantasy teams have finished without a trip to the playoffs this is a good time to get back in, draft a new team for the week, and keep your fantasy season going. They have plenty of free games to try at FanDuel as well, simply click on any of the banner links on the site and find a free one to play in to see if you enjoy it or not with no financial commitment. Good luck to everyone this week.

We actually hit our target of 16 teams last week (!) so FanDuel expaned the league to 22 teams. The cost to join is still $2 and the top 4 teams will win a prize. Once again feel free to let any friends of yours who play or might want to play to check it out since we are pushing the limit higher again this week. The deadline for entry is a few minutes before the 1PM kickoff on Sunday. Remember that each week we will have a new league so there is also no commitment to play beyond week 12.

If you haven’t tried FanDuel out yet its basically a weekly fantasy football league where your team is made up within the constraints of a salary cap. They do have free games to try out and if you click through the link you should be able to see how the game works and how you pick a team without needing to sign up. By signing up through OTC FanDuel will also issue you a deposit bonus to try out the games. It’s really fun and I definitely recommend it to anyone that can spare a few dollars each week. Our OTC is still a small league so its a good type of league to learn this type f fantasy game in as well before making the leap to more expensive games.

In last weeks game I was able to just hold on for the win with 147 points primarily behind Mike Evans of the Bucs.  For this week my receiver strategy I tried worked out quite well, but I came up way short in the running back department. I had high hopes for Steven Jackson based on opponent and lets say that was a big swing and miss.

Danfrommadison came on strong late with the big performance from Le’Veon Bell and would have won had the Patriots used Shane Vereen more on Sunday night. Ocho_evilo pulled up third with what may have been the most balanced team of the week and tokyola took the final prize spot of the week.

Congrats to all the winners and good luck to the players this week!
