Bills to Release Von Miller

Per multiple reports the Buffalo Bills have officially made the decision to release veteran EDGE rusher Von Miller, a move that was widely expected once they renegotiated his contract last year. Cutting Miller will result in $15.417 million in dead money for the Bills. Despite the notable dead money figure this will actually result in a salary cap savings of $8.397 million for 2025.

Miller was signed by the Bills as a free agent to a surprising six year, $120 million contract that wound up being one of the more regrettable free agent decisions made by the Bills. Miller missed a number of games due to injuries and a suspension and saw his role dramatically reduced over the last two seasons even when healthy. Miller did have six sacks this year and could potentially continue his career as a situational rusher if he would like to continue playing.

Miller had taken a pay cut this year of about $8.7 million after a suspension voided out $16 million in guarantees. He did earn $4 million of that pat cut back due to his sack totals. Overall, the Bills paid Miller $47.2 million for three years, 35 games, 14 sacks and 33 solo tackles.
